Townley Celebrated Black History Month with a visit from international rap artist Jonathan Emilee As part of Townley Grammar School’s commitment to celebrating Black History Month for its students, Canadian Grammy Award nominated artist, Jonathan Emile performed his “Songs of Freedom” workshop to Year 7 and 9 students on Thursday 9th October.

Students at Meopham School were treated to a visit by Councillor Tanmanjeet Dhesi this week. Councillor Dhesi, who resides in Gravesend, spoke inspirationally about his pathway to academic success, and his passion for politics and serving the local community. Ashley Cousins, Head Boy, said, “It was a privilege to meet Mr Dhesi, who responded to our request for a visit with enthusiasm.” Gaby Hicks, Head Girl, said, “the assembly really motivated us to aspire to take an active role in the local community, and to understand the crucial part that success at school can play in this.”

The Friends of Greenwich Peninsula Ecology Park are inviting young people aged 8 - 16 to become Young Urban Rangers by going behind the scenes at the park and getting involved in some hands-on practical work.

Fourteen members of Bromley Ramblers spent a morning clearing four footpaths in the Chelsfield area of overgrowing trees and bushes and waist high nettles and brambles. Armed with secateurs, loppers, saws and rakes, they took to the task with enthusiasm to ensure that these important public rights of way remain open and easy to use for both local people and walkers alike.

Red, White and Blue Day On Friday 10th October St Matthew Academy traded in their usual uniform colours of gold and blue to celebrate and support Red, White and Blue Day, commemorating 100 years since the beginning of World War 1.

The second annual Constructive Carers Awards held at The House of Lords, by kind permission of The Lord Speaker on July 29, saw Dan Catchsides from Eltham gain recognition for his charitable work with the Freddie Farmer Foundation.
