A furious dog walker described his “disgust” after claiming his dog almost chewed a used nappy at a park in Bexleyheath.

The dog walker from Welling, who wishes to be kept anonymous, claims to have made the discovery at Danson Park on Sunday morning (January 8).

Making his way through the park with his 11-month-old dog, he noticed a piled-up bin with black bags and some nappies on the grass.

As soon as he made the discovery, his dog ran off near the bins and took a sniff of the nappies.

He told the News Shopper: “I always take my dog out for walks, especially on the weekend.

“I noticed one of the red bins was piled up with rubbish and also found some used baby nappies on the grass nearby.

“It’s disgusting that people use the bins to chuck what is essentially human waste.

"Luckily, I was quick enough to react and take my dog away from the nappies."

The dog walker is “worried” for the health and safety not only of other dog walkers but also for families with children.

He said dumping nappies with human waste could attract more foxes and rats in the area.

He added: “It’s a massive health and safety issue, the bins need to be cleared up once they are full.

“It’s a simple solution really. There are children that play here every single day, so it would be dangerous for them also."

The Welling man is now calling for residents near Danson Park to “clear up their rubbish” and look after each other within the community.

He added: “We need to work with each other and ensure our parks are safe for our dogs, children, and families.

“We shouldn’t be worrying about this kind of stuff. It’s in our hands at the end of the day.”
