At DGGS on Lunchtime of Thursday 28th March, Year 10 students from all forms (Hever, Leeds, Penshurst, Ightam, Knole and Chartwell) took part in an action-packed hour hosting different types of events in order to raise money for the charity of each house’s choice.

It is traditional for students at DGGS to take part in charity day, competing against other forms in order to raise the most money for their charity. In previous years, students have organised activities such as; Sponging sixth formers, photoshoot with sixth formers, raves and fun food related fundraisers. However, this year’s charity day was one to beat, all 6 forms hosted intriguing and exciting events all equally successful in fundraising money. This year there was a basketball match with students playing against either teachers or sixth formers and teachers playing against sixth formers, which was especially entertaining and climactic. Another form hosted a most exhilarating concert called 10 Konnected (inspired by British festival wireless) with special performances from celebrity impersonators such as A, B, Ceyonce (Beyoncé), Village Boys (city girls) and DGGs year 10s very own comical rapper ‘P-Ducks’. Other forms also sold home made goods, sweet packages, Krispy Kreme donuts, cupcakes and caricature drawings. They also hired a professional camera and took high quality photos for reasonable prices; face painting was also offered.

The day was extremely successful and well rewarded after hours of organising themed events and activities and overall was a memorable and boisterous lunch time. Many others including myself cannot wait until next year to host another fun filled lunch time.
