New data obtained in an FOI by News Shopper has revealed the highest speeds recorded by two speed cameras on the A21 in Bromley Road in 2022.

As part of an ongoing series looking into the highest speeds recorded in roads in south east London, new data has revealed the highest speeds recorded on Bromley Road by two speed cameras last year.

According to information from Metropolitan Police, owners of vehicles that are caught speeding will be sent a Notice of Intended Prosecution as well as a Section 172 notice within 14 days of the recorded incident.

They, or the company secretary in the case of a company vehicle, must return the notice within 28 days, notifying the police who was driving the vehicle.

The matter will be referred to the magistrate’s court in the event that the notice is ignored.

Depending on the speed, the driver could receive an option for a speed awareness course, a fixed penalty notice or a letter telling them to go to court.
