Scots have been told to prepare for snow after the Met Office issued severe weather warnings for parts of the country.

Persistent showers of sleet and snow are expected during Friday night with up to 6cm forecast to fall in some areas of Scotland

The yellow 'be aware' warning for snow are in place for Strathclyde and Dumfries, Galloway, Lothian & Borders.

The warnings are valid from 6pm today until 10am on Saturday.
