Here’s how the Millwall players rated in their 2-1 defeat against QPR at The Den.

Bartosz Bialkowski - 2

Unconvincing under an early high-ball but had little to do first half. Little he could do for QPR’s goal but there’s nowhere to hide regarding the second. There are no words….

Jason McCarthy - 7

Played as a right wing-back and was up and down like a fiddler’s elbow. Made several vital clearances at the back post and was more than game to join in the attack at every opportunity.

Shaun Hutchinson - 7

Made a great clearance in the first half, taking a blow to his head for his troubles. Warrior and still a leader without the armband.

Jake Cooper - 4

Looked uncomfortable on the left-hand side of a back three, being dragged out of position by Eberechi Eze and Nahki Wells on more than one occasion.

Alex Pearce -  5

He may not have the pace but he reads the game well. Made a vital block in the first half to deny Hugill a definite goal.

Shane Ferguson - 5

Didn’t put a foot wrong and was an even match to QPR’s wing-back Todd Kane. Couldn’t get forward as much as he’d like and his set-piece wasn’t quite on the money.

Jayson Molumby - 6

May not have the size of a Ryan Leonard or a Shaun Williams but certainly doesn’t shirk a tackle. Reads the game very well and his distribution is always on point.

Jed Wallace - 8

The creativity onus lies with Wallace but the trickster found it tough to link up with Bodvarsson and Smith who offered little movement in the first half. Deserved to get on the scoresheet but wasted a glorious one-on-one. Relieved pressure countless times and was easily the stand out performer, again.

Ben Thompson - 5

Looks a different player to that which came back from Portsmouth last season. Looks to get forward everytime but having to do so from his own half causes issues. Much of the game by-passed the talented middle-man, mainly above his head.

Jon Dadi Bodvarsson - 4

Had little service but did little to drag his side up the pitch. Ran the channels valiantly but offered little in terms of goal threat.

Matt Smith - 5

Won his aerial battle as you’d expect, but being so isolated from his teammates it was easy work for the R’s defence in the first half. Should’ve been given a few decisions, but when you’re the target man, you expect some harsh treatment.

Subs:

Tom Bradshaw - 6

Immediate impact when he came on. Turned the defender and got a teasing cross in which yielded a corner which led to the goal.

Connor Mahoney- N/A

Little time to make an impact but put in a number of teasing crosses. Needs consistency.
