Crystal Palace and Wales goalkeeper Wayne Hennessey has backed Scott Dann to receive an England call-up, and admits it would be “interesting” to face him at Euro 2016.

The defensive duo were both in excellent form during the 1-0 win over Southampton on Saturday.

And after finding out Wales had been drawn in England’s group for next summer’s tournament, Hennessey hopes Dann will be joining him in France.

Hennessey laughed: “It would be interesting playing against Scott.

“He’s been fantastic and hopefully England can see that and give him a call-up, he definitely deserves it.”

The Eagles’ shot-stopper was full of praise for Dann and centre-back partner Damien Delaney after their fourth clean sheet of the season.

“They’re a good solid pair, they’re fantastic together,” he said.

“I wouldn’t be surprised if Scott Dann gets an England call up and I hope he does, fingers crossed.

“We can’t leave the full-backs out either, they’ve all been superb.”

The 28-year-old warned Dann that although he’d like to see him at the competition, there will be no place for niceties once they swap club for country.

“We’re playing some good football at this moment in time, and maybe England will be thinking ‘oh my god we’ve got Wales’,” he added.

Palace’s current no.1 also had a friendly warning for teammate Julian Speroni, who is two appearances short of equalling John Jackson's record of 388 games in goal in all competitions for the Eagles.

After two last minute saves to stop Southampton’s Shane Long kept all three points at Selhurst Park, Hennessey revealed he is only thinking about keeping hold of his place between the sticks.

“I’m just going to focus on myself,” he said.

“I’ll let Speroni do what he wants to do - if he wants to reach that goal then all the best to him,” he said.

“At the end of the day it’s down to one person and I’m going to keep myself right.

“Competition is always healthy, you come to a big place like Palace and you know you’re going to face some fantastic players ahead of you.

“I’m glad I’m playing now and hopefully I can maintain that shirt.”
