London Ambulance Service has issued a statement after a man was stabbed in a fight in Orpington.

The fight, between two men, happened in Star Lane just before 4.20am today (February 26).

Officers were called to the scene and found one of the men with stab injuries to his chest.

An ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car, an incident response officer, and a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance also attended.

The man was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

His injuries are believed to be self-inflicted.

No arrests have been made following the incident.

The full statement from London Ambulance Service says: “We were called at 4:12am on Monday 26 February  to reports of an incident on Star Lane, Orpington.

“We sent resources to the scene, including an ambulance crew, a medic in a fast response car and an incident response officer. We also dispatched a trauma team in a car from London’s Air Ambulance.

“We treated a patient at the scene for stab wounds before taking them to hospital.”

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “At approximately 04:16hrs on Monday, 26 February, police were called to Star Lane, Orpington, BR5 to reports of two men fighting.

“When officers arrived one man was lying on the ground with stab injuries to his chest.

“These are believed to be self-inflicted.

“He was treated at the scene and has since been taken to hospital as his injuries are thought to be life threatening.

“The road has been partially closed off so an investigation can take place.

“There are no arrests at this time.”
