A man is fighting for his life in hospital after being stabbed during a fight in Orpington.

The fight, between two men, happened in Star Lane just before 4.20am today (February 26).

Officers were called to the scene and found one of the men with stab injuries to his chest.

He was treated at the scene before being taken to hospital in a life-threatening condition.

His injuries are believed to be self-inflicted.

Star Lane has been partially closed off to traffic while police investigate the incident.

No arrests have been made.

A spokesperson for Metropolitan Police said: “At approximately 04:16hrs on Monday, 26 February, police were called to Star Lane, Orpington, BR5 to reports of two men fighting.

“When officers arrived one man was lying on the ground with stab injuries to his chest.

“These are believed to be self-inflicted.

“He was treated at the scene and has since been taken to hospital as his injuries are thought to be life threatening.

“The road has been partially closed off so an investigation can take place.

“There are no arrests at this time.”
