A spokesperson for Lewisham Council said it had been “cracking down” on fly-tipping in the borough with further fines and enforcement action.

They also added that fly-tipping reports were down in 2022 compared with records from the previous year.

Cllr Louise Krupski, cabinet member for environment and climate action, said: “Fly-tipping makes our streets unclean, damages our environment and takes money away from vital local services.

“We have been cracking down on fly-tipping in Lewisham with more fines and enforcement action, as well as clearing rubbish away more quickly and delivering our award-winning Cleaner Lewisham campaign to deter people from dumping illegally.

"While there’s still more to do, we’re making good progress, with fly-tipping reports down 20% in 2022 compared to the previous year.”
