A further two people have been arrested after a man was shot dead at a holiday park in Sheerness.

Sam Petrou was found having been shot in Fourth Avenue at 9.40am on Sunday (June 11).

After police responded, the 35-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene.

On June 15, a 42-year-old man was arrested in Newcastle-upon-Tyne and a 35-year-old woman was detained in London, both on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

Officers previously arrested three other suspects as part of the murder investigation.

A man aged in his 50s was arrested on suspicion of murder on June 11.

A 42-year-old man from Sidcup and a 33-year-old woman from Greenwich were arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

They have since been released on bail until September 11.

Sam, from Bromley, was described as "incredibly loved" and "never failing to put a smile on your face", reports MyLondon.

In a tribute paid to Sam on Facebook, one person said: "Some amazing memories with you, this is just 1 of many, you were like family RIP Sam Petrou.

“You’ll never be forgotten"

Another person said: "My brother man, where do I start.

“Played my first Sunday league match with you, drunk my first legal pint with you, from 15 when I was the jarring little kid in the pub and not meant to in there, you looked after me and took me in.

"I just want to say thank you bro. Thank you for letting me be a part of your story bro.

“Sam my brother, fly high you'll be forever with me."

Officers are continuing to appeal to drivers who were travelling through Eastchurch between 7.30pm and 9pm on June 10.

They are looking to identify the movements of people or vehicles in the Warden Road and Fourth Avenue areas.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Two more people have been arrested in connection with the murder of a man who was shot in Sheerness.

“A total of five suspects have now been detained by officers investigating the death of 35-year-old Sam Petrou (pictured).

“Mr Petrou's body was found at an address in Fourth Avenue, Eastchurch on Sunday 11 June 2023.

“The latest arrests were made during the afternoon of Thursday 15 June, and involved a 42-year-old man and a 35-year-old woman.

“The man was detained in Newcastle-Upon-Tyne, on suspicion of conspiracy to commit murder.

“The woman was arrested for the same offence at an address in London. Both were taken into custody.

“Officers had previously arrested three other suspects, two men and a woman, and they are all currently bailed with conditions to return to a police station on 11 September.”
