A man in his 40s has been found dead in a car park in Crystal Palace.

The discovery was made by a member of the public in Homelands Drive just before 9.30am yesterday (June 1).

After police responded to Efra Court car park, a man was found unresponsive.

He was pronounced dead a short time later.  

Police enquiries are now underway to trace and notify his next of kin.

A post-mortem examination will be conducted in due course.

Pictures show nearby Church Road sealed off by police as the incident is dealt with by forensic detectives. 

They also show multiple emergency response vehicles at the scene.

An investigation by the Met’s Specialist Crime Command has now been launched following the discovery.

No arrests have been made as police enquiries into the circumstances continue.

A crime scene remains in place. 

Detective Chief Inspector Sal Minhas, who is leading the investigation, said: "A dedicated team of detectives are working to establish exactly what happened and identify who is responsible.

“Officers are at the scene, which remains open, and I would ask anyone with information about the incident to contact us immediately, no matter how minor the detail.

“Tackling violence remains a priority, and I urge the communities we serve to work alongside us to stop violence."
