Two adults and a child have been taken to hospital after a fire at a home in Eltham during the early hours of this morning.

Six fire engines and around 40 firefighters were called to Alderwood Road at 4.37am.

A man and child fled the building before firefighters arrived at the home.

One woman was rescued by firefighters who brought her down the internal staircase while wearing breathing apparatus.

They were all then taken to hospital.

Half of the ground floor and most of the first floor of the mid-terraced house were damaged in the blaze.

Pictures show that the roof of the home has been completely stripped away by the fire.
