Sainsbury’s has opened a brand-new Starbucks café in its New Cross Gate store.

Customers were welcomed over the Jubilee bank holiday weekend as the café opened for the first time.

This comes as Starbucks plans to open 30 new cafés within Sainsbury’s stores in the next twelve months.

Elizabeth Newman, Sainsbury’s director of commercial partnerships, said: “We’re delighted to have reopened the first of our former cafés as a new Starbucks in our New Cross Gate supermarket.

“Our Starbucks sites have already proved very popular with Sainsbury’s customers.

“We hope our colleagues and customers in New Cross Gate enjoy their fantastic new Starbucks café and we’re looking forward to opening more within Sainsbury’s stores as our rollout programme progresses.”

The popular coffee chain is replacing the superstore’s former café.

Customers are invited to try a range of Starbucks drinks and snacks, including dairy free alternatives for no extra cost.

Customers in the area will also be able to cool down during the summer months with the brand-new Orange Mango Refresha Drink which will be available to try in the new store.

Rehan Sardar, director of store development for Starbucks, said: “We are pleased to be opening our new café in New Cross Gate, in partnership with Sainsbury’s.

“This is a great opportunity for customers to meet our team and we look forward to welcoming the local community to enjoy our new dining-in and takeaway moments as we introduce the Starbucks Experience across more Sainsbury’s stores nationwide.”

Starbucks offers a 25p discount to all customers who bring a reusable cup as part of their push for sustainability and waste reduction.

The new store can be found at 263d New Cross Road.

It is open from 6.30am until 8pm Monday to Friday, 7.30am to 8pm on Saturdays and 8am to 8pm on Sundays.
