THE deadline to register to vote for the May elections is tonight.

Voters will have the chance to decide who their councillors will be for the next four years.

Anyone wanting to vote in the May elections must be registered today (April 14) by 11.59pm.

The polls will take place on May 5, where people will use the First Past The Post system to vote.

A postal vote will be avaliable for those who are not able to get to the polls, which must be applied before 5pm on April 19.

Bexley:

The Conservative Party maintained its longstanding control of Bexley Council by winning 34 out of the 45 seats, in the previous 2018 election.

The Labour Party came in at second place by gaining 37 per cent of the votes gaining 11 seats in 2018.

Lewisham:

The Labour Party won all 54 seats in a landslide victory in the previous 2018 Lewisham elections.

Greenwich:

Greenwich is made up of 42 Labour and nine Conservative councillors and it has been since the 2018 elections.

Bromley:

Bromley has been controlled by the Conservatives since 2001 and for most of its history.

They currently have 50 councillors, while Labour have eight and there are two independents.
