A police incident formed long delays on the M25 - causing disruptions last night (December 9).

Kent Police was called to the scene at 7.40pm where a pedestrian had “fallen” and suffered “serious” injuries.

The motorway remained closed on the clockwise carriage between junction 6 near Clackett Lane services and junction 5 in Sevenoaks.

A spokesperson for Kent Police said: “Kent Police was called at 7.40pm on Thursday 9 December 2021, to a location on the M25 where a pedestrian had fallen and suffered serious injuries.

“The injured person has since been taken to a London hospital for treatment and no vehicles were involved.

“A road closure was enforced, to ensure public safety, and by around 12.20am on Friday 10 December all closures had been lifted.”

The National Highways: south east tweeted at 8.07pm: “Traffic on the #M25 between J6 #Godstone and J5 #M26 #Sevenoaks is currently stopped in both directions due to a Police led incident.

“Delays are beginning to build on approach.

“The #M25 in #Kent has now been closed anti-clockwise between J6 (#Godstone) and J5 (#M26 / #Sevenoaks) due to a Police incident.

“The clockwise carriageway remains blocked.

In an update at 9.07pm, it said: “The clockwise carriageway has been reopened on the #M25 between J5 #M26 #Sevenoaks and J6 #Godstone.

“The anti-clockwise carriageway remains closed at this time whilst emergency services work at scene.

Another update followed at 12.00am, where it added: “The #M25 has reopened between J5 #M26 #Sevenoaks and J6 #Godstone following a serious @kent_police led incident.

“Many thanks for your patience if you were affected by this closure.

“Please take care and have a safe onward journey.”
