Media outlets often are portrayed as only covering negative news, and such criticism is sometimes aimed at News Shopper too.

Despite reporting some gloomy stories in the past week, we wanted to show you that it wasn’t all bad.

Teenager helps pensioner with Alzheimer’s on Grove Park bus

News Shopper:

Georgia Delius, 19, from Bexleyheath, showed incredible altruism when she followed an elderly woman off the bus after suspecting she didn’t know her way home.

The teenager ended up sitting with the confused woman and calling the police to ensure she returned home safely.

She later learned the lady was an Alzheimer’s patient and had been missing for eight hours.
 

Orpington boy with cerebral palsy raised over £2,500 for charity

News Shopper:

Owen Edwardes, six, from Orpington, raised thousands of pounds for two local charities by completing a para-triathlon.

The boy, who has cerebral palsy, raised £2,500 for Bradbourne Group Riding for the Disabled Association and Petts Wood Playgroup.
 

Diner wrestles suspected thief to the ground in Thai Moon restaurant

News Shopper:

TV hardman Stephen Doran, 32, was enjoying some Thai food at a restaurant with friends when he suddenly leapt into action to stop a thief.

After hearing a commotion he realised a man was fleeing the Petts Wood restaurant with stolen cash from the till.

Stephen managed to wrestle the thief to the floor and held him down until police arrived ten minutes later.
 

Croydon Cat Killer: Musician offers gesture over lack of funding

News Shopper:

Rob Todd, of the band Don’t Wake The Lion, will donate half of his latest single sales to help the investigation to find the Croydon Cat Killer.

This was a helpful boost to the couple who run South Norwood Animal Rescue and Liberty (SNARL), who said the three-year investigation was at risk because of a desperate funding shortage.
 

Forest Hill boy, 10, comes to the rescue after his dad collapses

News Shopper:

Toky Brown, 10, was getting ready for school when all of a sudden his dad collapsed and had a seizure.

Despite being scared, he remained calm and gave his dad CPR, which prevented him from swallowing his tongue.

His dad described his son as a “brave hero” and the little boy has now been nominated for an award.
