Hundreds of people have donated to a campaign to raise money for a funeral for murdered teenager Myron-Isaac Yarde.

Tributes to the aspiring musician, known creatively as MDOT, flooded in on social media following his death in hospital after being stabbed in New Cross on Sunday night (April 3).

More than 600 people have contributed to the fundraiser, which has raised over £10,000 in just two days, surpassing its target of £7,500.

Jay Thomas, who is fundraising to help Myron's family with funeral costs, said:

"I want to give Myron the send-off he deserves.

"He had a lot of friends and everybody knew who he was.

"We were good friends, I met him through his music and had been to a lot of his performances.

"His main focus was music and his goals were always to make it in music."

He added: "He never got into anything - he barely had a fight much less get stabbed to death by someone.

"He was so young. It's such a shock especially for a guy like Myron."

Hundreds of people turned out on Monday for a memorial event for the teenager, who friends say was studying music at Big Creative Education in Walthamstow.

His family also faced heartbreak last year when his mother Marcelle died of cancer.

Myron organised and performed at a community fundraising concert in June in her memory.
