Plans have been made to open London’s first science, health and wellbeing school in Bromley. The proposed Science Health and Wellbeing (SHaW) Futures Academy will be a school for 11-19 year olds, providing them with access to skills and learning opportunities to work in the health, sports and applied sciences fields.

The school is planned to be located near Bromley South Station and will be led by Bromley Educational Trust.

A range of science, health and wellbeing leaders are sponsors of the proposed school, including MyTimeActive, Nuffield Health and King’s College Hospital NHS Trust.

Plans for the building include eleven science labs and five biomedical facilities. There are also plans to include a multi-functional hall, music centre, recording studio and food technology facility. There are also areas for local community use including café space and parking spaces.

Local residents are now being asked their views on the building proposals in advance of the construction. If plans are approved, construction could begin in late spring 2017 before the school opens in September 2019.
