The fairly recent opening of a new and redecorated art gallery in Orpington called “Artstyle” has further added to the modern and trendy appeal that Orpington has been aiming to achieve lately. Along with the new cinema and restaurants this art gallery has proved to be a funky urban and classy addition to the town with unique paintings and drawings from talented artists around the world.

It has contemporary art suitable for all ages with a whole mix of people admiring the artwork. Charlotte Foxhall an A-level art student said “the art here is truly inspiring, from artists I’ve never heard of before and can explore now” with the fact that it is located in the main towns shopping centre making it more accessible to locals. It’s no Tate Modern but it is much less expensive and time-consuming than trekking up to London.

It has also personally inspired to me to get into drawing for a hobby and I am currently enjoying sketching characters from Japanese Hayao Miyazaki animations. It has actually proved to be quite therapeutic and a good stress relief so close to exams.
