                               ON WHEELS, UNDER WHEELS

A 3rd cyclist had been killed because of a collision with a truck, and another in hospital. On Thursday 4th of February, a female cyclist had her legs stuck under a lorry in a quiet suburb of London (Dulwich). Emergency services were called to the scene following the accident at 8:50 am.

I was on my way to school when I heard noise up ahead, I walk up to see what the ruckus was and see a police man talking to a young woman whom appeared to be stuck under a lorry, trying to keep her conscious. She appeared to be calm, but it was probably the shock.

More and more accidents are involving cyclists and other vehicles. We need to encourage cyclists to make sure that they stay visible; especially in these winter months when it gets dark late, always have a luminous jacket with you if your journey involves cycling. Many of my friends think that it is not cool to wear a helmet, or a visible jacket, but between looking cool while on the streets and your keeping your life, which one would you rather do?

It is important that we recognize the dangers that cyclists face, and since we encourage people to use less cars and cycle or walk more, until we sort out a way in which we are all safe, many are likely to not change until there is change on the roads.
