Dartford midfielder Barry Cogan believes the club have turned a corner following back-to-back victories in the National League South.

The Darts endured an indifferent start to the season following relegation from the Conference last year and suffered three straight defeats at the back of September.

However, Tony Burman’s side have picked up seven points from their last three games and midfielder Cogan believes the club can now push on towards a play-off position.

“It’s been really good the last few weeks,” he said. “It’s pleasing to get back to winning ways and to start picking up a few good results.

“Winning becomes a habit, unfortunately our confidence became a little low because of a few results but you just need a couple of wins.

“It’s a really good squad with a lot of young players. We hope now we can push up the table and build in confidence.”

Cogan, who has enjoyed spells at Millwall, Gillingham and Dover, has been hampered by a reoccurring shoulder injury this season.

But the 30-year-old has returned from the treatment table in recent weeks and now hopes to play a big role in Burman’s team.

“It’s been really frustrating for me and a difficult time,” Cogan admitted.

“I joined the club and was absolutely desperate to get in the team but a few injuries have set me back.

“It’s still not completely right but I’m delighted to be back playing and hopefully I can stamp my mark on the side.”

Cogan was at odds to explain Dartford’s sloppy start to the term, but insisted that the club’s young talent can compete with the league’s leaders.

“We weren’t playing that badly, it seemed like a little blip,” he added.

“Everything seemed to be going wrong for us and we were having no luck, but the confidence is now improving and we feel like we’ve turned a corner.

“Anyone can beat anyone in the league and we can certainly beat anyone on our day.

“If we can finish in and around the play offs it would be a fantastic season I think – it’s a young squad and we can certainly build on wherever we finish this year.”
