Free agent David Martin is no longer training with Charlton.

Martin, 31, has been without a club since leaving MK Dons in May.

The League One-proven goalkeeper played under Addicks boss Karl Robinson for six years at the Dons.

He has been training with Charlton for most of the summer, but Robinson says he has left the club.

He said: “No, he’s not training with us anymore. There wasn't a decision to be made [on whether he would stay and train]. He’s been coming to training, that’s it really.”

Robinson also revealed that a deal to sign Martin was never on the table.

The Addicks will not send Dillon Phillips, who is attracting interest from Football League clubs, out on loan if they fail to bring in another goalkeeper before the transfer window closes.

Phillips, 22, played second fiddle to Declan Rudd last season, and is now behind Bolton loanee Ben Amos in the pecking order.

Robinson added: “Dillon knows we’re trying to let him go out on loan. If we can’t do that, he knows that’s the situation.

“Dillon will not go on loan if I don't get a top number two in. Why would I bring in someone who’s not as good as we've got? It’s got to be somebody that can drive us forward in case Ben doesn't play.

“I know if Ben is not fit next week, I know Dillon Phillips is a top, top goalkeeper. I’ve got to have that security behind me that I know my number two is as good as the one who is in goal.

“Ben has a little bit more experience but Dillon is certainly coming on. He’s certainly someone that we’ve got to tread very carefully with his development.”
