Charlton boss Karl Robinson believes Jake Forster-Caskey has a point to prove following his disappointing spell with Rotherham.

Forster-Caskey, 23, made just seven appearances for the Millers last season, before moving to the Valley in January.

He failed to hold down a regular first-team place in a side that was battling against relegation.

But Forster-Caskey, who returns to the New York Stadium with the Addicks today, has found a new lease of life at Charlton, and scored two superb goals in the club’s 4-1 win over Northampton last weekend.

Robinson said: “He played in a 4-4-2 system at Rotherham that didn't suit him.

“You’ve seen he’s used to playing with three midfield players. His ball retention is as good as I’ve seen.

“But he's in a good place and I think he’s got one or two points to prove.”

Both Charlton and Rotherham are expected to challenge for promotion this season.

And Robinson says his players must put in their best performance of the campaign if they are to come away with a result.

While Rotherham’s away form has been poor, Paul Warne’s men thrashed Southend 5-0 in their first home game of the season.

Robinson added: “It’s important we move forward with this team and really focus on what our job at hand is.

“We’re going to have to put in our best performance of the season on Saturday to get a result. We’re going there to win - that’s going to be our objective.”
