Crystal Palace are reportedly weighing up a move for Fiorentina striker Khouma Babacar, as the Eagles look to improve their potency in front of goal.

Babacar, who has scored six goals in 14 appearances in Serie A this season, has attracted the attention of several European clubs after a solid run of form.

The Guardian report that Premier League rivals Palace and Leicester are monitoring the Senegal U20 star ahead of a possible move in the January transfer window.

Both clubs have made a wonderful start to the season, with the Foxes trailing league leaders Arsenal by only two points and Palace occupying 7th place – above the likes of Liverpool and Chelsea.

However, Alan Pardew and Claudio Ranieri understand that effective January business is necessary to help both teams maintain their impressive runs.

Pardew, 54, has admitted that he wants to bring in a forward, particularly after the Eagles have failed to score in three consecutive games.

Injuries to Connor Wickham and Dwight Gayle – as well as Patrick Bamford’s premature exit – have reiterated Palace’s need for a striker and Pardew is said to be impressed by Babacar’s performances this term.
