Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has admitted his desire to strengthen his attacking options in the January transfer window.

Despite instigating a wonderful run of form in south London which has seen the Eagles move up to fifth in the Premier League, Pardew has been concerned by Palace’s lack of goals.

The club have scored 23 goals in their 19 league games and were unable to find a breakthrough in their last two fixtures against Swansea and Bournemouth.

“We've had an unbelievable year but you can't stand still in the Premier League. I'd like a striker in the window,” Pardew said.

Palace’s options up front have been hampered by injuries to Connor Wickham, Dwight Gayle and Yannick Bolasie, as well as the controversial exit of Patrick Bamford.

The Chelsea striker announced after last week’s stalemate against Swansea that he would be terminating his season-long loan contract in a bid to earn more first-team action.

Several forwards have been linked with a move to Selhurst Park this January, with Palace said to be considering bids for the likes of Charlie Austin, Simone Zaza and Khouma Babacar.

Austin, 26, who has been in the goals this season for QPR, was strongly linked with a switch to Palace this summer and the Express say Pardew remains keen on securing his services this January.
