The advent of spring brings new joy for Twickenham MP Vincent Cable who is to marry at the end of May. Father of two Dr Cable, 61, was widowed three years ago when his wife Olympia died after suffering breast cancer for several years.
He will wed Rachel Wenban-Smith, 58, who farms cattle in the New Forest and worked in housing for workers in rural areas. In time honoured style for members of parliament, the representative for Twickenham and the Hamptons since 1997 and his bride, who has three children, will receive a blessing at the House of Commons on May 29. Rev Neil Evans of All Hallows Church, Twickenham will officiate following a civil ceremony at Richmond Register Office with family and close friends. The wedding party will then adjourn for a cruise down the Thames.
