GLASGOW CITY remain on course for a domestic treble after a 5-0 win over Rangers in the Unite Women's Scottish Cup Final at Forthbank, Stirling.
Currently top of the Premier League, City were hot favourites against the League One champions and, from the first whistle, dominated the match.
Goals from Sue Lappin and Leanne Ross put their side up 2-0 at half-time, but it could have been a lot worse for the Gers.
Goal-line clearances combined with the post, bar and some excellent goalkeeping from Kate Laggan, kept the Light Blues in the game.
In the second period, City went from strength to strength, with player-of-the-match Kat Lindner terrorising the Rangers full-backs in particular.
Goals from Lappin, Ross and substitute Jane Brown rounded off a fine display by City, which left boss Peter Caulfield delighted.
He said: "We knew we could not underestimate Rangers as they have beaten some very good sides to get to the final. But I think our quality showed on the day.
"We have now won the League Cup and Scottish Cup and are gunning for the title to make it a historic treble."
City have two games left - Hibs tomorrow and Spartans on Sunday. A win in both will have Caulfield and his team realise their dreams.
