Created in South London, a replica of a famous Bosna stall in Austria has gone viral in Salzberg, making the front page of the town’s newspaper!

Bosna, which is an Austrian fast food dish said to have originated in Salzberg, is popular all over western Austria and southern Bavaria. It resembles a hotdog, with a filling of mainly Bratwurst sausage, onions, and a blend of mustard, ketchup, and curry powder (also known as curry ketchup).

Agnes, who is from Austria, but who has lived in London for the past 25 years with her husband and two children, came up with the idea after she and her family had not been able to visit her hometown for months due to the pandemic. Around Christmas, their two children mentioned the local favourite, and how they missed it.

Agnes and her husband Danny own a company called Footprints Scenery that is well known for its design work in the entertainment sector, supplying design, scenic and prop making services to the London 2012 Olympic Ceremonies, Sochi Winter Games, the National Theatre, the Royal Court, BBC, ITV, and many more achievements. Recreating the Bonsa stall seemed like the perfect task and thought it would be a good idea to bring the taste of Salzberg to their home!

After making the replica, Agnes sent photos to her mother in Austria, who told the butcher that is associated with the stall. The owner of the stall eventually found out and was shocked and asked to see photos of it. The local newspaper caught on, and Agnes was phoned by a journalist who wrote about the story. It ended up on the front page of the local newspaper, with many in Agnes’ home now aware that their favourite stall is in London.

What’s even more amazing is that the article was published on Danny and Agnes’ wedding anniversary, by coincidence! It almost seems like fate, with a dash of curry ketchup…
