It has been seven years since the legendary Sir Alex Ferguson had retired as manager of Manchester United. He had led the club to 13 Premier League titles and two Champions League titles. However, since Sir Alex retired, United have seemed to be lost, hopeless, and struggling to find a manager who can guide them on to the glory days of the 1990s and 2000s.

They had been through four managers before they found the current man in charge, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. Initially starting off his Man Utd career as a former player, Ole joined a club which was in dismay. However, during his first few weeks, he managed to turn things around, winning game after game and even beating PSG in the Champions League. This success, however, was short-lived, and Manchester United went into a period of constant defeat and mounting pressure on Solskjaer to perform.

In January of 2020 the answer to United’s woes in the form of a new player named Bruno Fernandes. From the moment he arrived, he mended divisions in the United fanbase and was a leader both off and on the pitch.

As a keen Manchester United fan said

‘ Bruno Fernandes has been the glue of the team’

Even though the 2020-21 season started off a bit rocky, with defeats to Crystal Palace and Arsenal, Manchester United has rebounded with 8 consecutive away wins propelling them into 2nd place. They are now within touching range of defending champions, Liverpool. This can be attributed to Ole’s tactical masterclass against teams such as Leeds and Bruno Fernandes’s goal-scoring success. It may have been a rocky few seasons for a United fan, but after 7 long years, they can finally see themselves back to their former glory.
