CLIMATE CHANGE MEANS THE WORLD HAS CHANGED!

It cannot be denied that climate change is real. Since the start of 1880, the worlds temperature had slowly started to increase. The combined land and ocean temperature had risen at an average rate of 0.07°C (0.13°F) per decade. However, the average rate of increase since 1981 (0.18°C / 0.32°F) is more than twice as great as the temperature in 1880. As of May 2020, the carbon dioxide levels in the Earth’s atmosphere was the highest it has ever been in all of human history. It rose to 416 parts per million, which is one of the major reasons as to why the planet’s weather over lots of different countries has changed quite dramatically. How could anyone think that this situation is acceptable?

On top of this, 2019 had been the second warmest year. This is due to increased deforestation levels, a rise in carbon dioxide gas in the atmosphere. As everybody knows, deforestation is especially bad to the environment because they are a type of carbon store, as well as the ocean. If they are constantly being chopped down, then the ocean will become to acidic due to the amount of C02, it is containing, which will then lead to all of the wildlife that need ocean water to survive dying because it would have become too toxic for them to live in.

On the other hand, there are positive things that are occurring right now that are beginning to change the way that certain businesses work, For example, Unilever have planned to cut and drop fossil fuels being used to make their products by the end of 2030 to reduce to amount of carbon emissions that is being released into the air during the process. They plan to invest in £907,970,381.50 to change what products and chemicals people are putting into their laundry.

According to a survey that was taken across 27 different countries, around 90% of the world’s population agreed and saw that climate change was a very serious problem that we all needed to take action against and help prevent any extreme side effects of this global issue.

On the positive side of things, we have started to take drastic action about this environmental problem. There have been less carbon emissions, more electrical cars, electrical cookers etc. Also, we have started to consume more vegetables than there is meat, and this is due to animals being killed just for human’s to survive, without actually us thinking about other animal species that also need these living creatures to survive, because a majority of our food and meat ends up in the bin.
