On no terms am I saying that COVID-19 is a good thing, it has been terrible.

Exams being cancelled, increasing amounts of deaths by the hour, etc.

But, there have been a few positives coming out of this that we should recognise and celebrate, no matter how small.

The smaller positives

We have all been (and will further be) affected by the recent quarantine period, which will hopefully help the Virus to be slowed and defeated globally. But whilst we are all at home, we should take advantage of this.

Every single person who is in a house will have many jobs that need doing. From gardening to cleaning to decorating and beyond. This is the perfect time to try and get these chores out of the way. They may not exactly seem like the most amusing activity to be doing, but it seems silly to not take advantage of this time and not get these jobs done. Why wouldn’t you?

Also, this quarantine period seems perfect for getting through that pile of books that has been building up on your desk. The large majority of people in the UK buy and own lots of books, but never read them. This isolation period has given us a gift. Time! We must use it for good, so would be a perfect time for trying to tackle that pile of books that have been building up for the last few years, come on- le us face it together!

However, if you are not much of a reader, there are always films and TV shows. Everyone loves a good Rom-com film, so why not a few? Companies such as Netflix, Amazon prime, SKY have thousands of films and even more Boxsets! If you have access to one of the many streaming platforms, this is a great time to take advantage of it and watch to your heart’s content.

Larger positives

As everyone is aware (or should be aware) the NHS, the government, and medical labs are all working tirelessly to try and find a treatment, or at least some form of preventative, to help control the spread of COVID-19. Many people do not realise how much of a positive this actually is. People obviously realise that a vaccine would practically save the world, but what many people aren’t realising is that a treatment for this would help us to develop more treatments or vaccines for Superbugs, and other deadly pathogens.

Hopefully, this will enlighten people a bit more on how COVID-19 does still have some positives even though it has caused major issues. It is always good to try and see the light in any bad situation.
