Over the past year to two years we have seen a dramatic increase in the population of the “ever-growing” town of Hoo. There have been an astronomical number of houses built over this time period and unfortunately I feel as though the Council have abandoned us. Aside from the need for infrastructure, the St. Werburgh Medical Practice isn't assisting this growth in the number of people needing medical attention. I feel as though we need a far higher amount of care facilities but if this practice does not change its ways we might be left with nothing be the end of the six month period they were issued.
A member of the council had been sent to inspect the quality of the healthcare being issued by them and unfortunately they did not pass their inspection; they in fact deemed it as “inadequate” and the Chief Inspector, Rosie Bennyworth stated, "will take action in line with our enforcement procedures to begin the process of preventing the provider from operating the service. This will lead to cancelling their registration or to varying the terms of their registration within six months if they do not improve.” The shutting down of this Medical Practice will have a devastating effect on the local community and will cause a major inconvenience to the people of this town. Without healthcare nearby people will be forced to look further afield to other practices around Kent, causing a decrease in healthcare appointments available for other people in our local area.
I understand that this is a problem beyond my control but over the past few weeks numbers of my family have experience many issues with the availability of appointments and so without the introduction of new methods and a way of operation, I feel as though this medical practice will become insufficient for the large number of people it needs to support and consequently Hoo will be in trouble. So either this practice needs to make a change or the Council need to supply us with a new one.
