five of my favourite films from the last decade

The last ten years have been manic and full of ups and downs. Our politics is competitive and ever changing and last year more people voted in elections than ever. It’s fair to say that there was a lot to disagree on. So here’s something we can all agree on. A good movie.

Here’s a list of my personal favourite films released between January 2010 and  December 2019:

5. It (2017)

It is a remake of the 1990 film Stephen King’s it. It is a Supernatural horror film that follows a group of bullied misfits who are being tormented by a cannibal, child eating demon clown with their greatest fears. The film shows the importance of friendship and bravery in the face of fear.

It is a brilliant horror film and it made me jump a couple of times. It has brilliant cinematography and definitely deserves a watch

4. call me by your name

Call me by your name is a romantic drama released in 2017. The film follows a seventeen year old Jewish boy named Elio who falls in love with an older history student, Oliver who is visiting to help Elios fathers on a project. The film follows the short lived romance between them.

Call me by your name is set in a Small town in northern italy and the gorgeous scenery in the movie just makes it more beautiful. Call me by your name is one of those films that takes you from reality and puts you in another world. It’s fantastic and definitely deserves a watch.

3. Bohemian Rhapsody

Bohemian rhapsody is a Biopic about the lead singer of the highly successful rock band queen, Freddie Mercury. The film explores lots of aspects of the singers life from his music to his sexuality.

This movie is fantastic. Bohemian Rhapsody is a film that has influenced many young people’s lives and opened them up to a new world of music that they may have not been exposed to before. The film is a rollercoaster of emotions and is extremely entertaining. That’s why it’s one of my favourite films.

2. rocketman

Rocket man is also a biopic but this time about Sir Elton John. The film is dreamy and wonderful it follows Sir Eltons life from a child and explores his struggles throughout the years using his hit songs in a music theatre fashion.

Rocketman is a sing dancing dream of a film that everyone can enjoy and sing along to. Everything about this film is amazing and every time you watch it it because more and more beautiful

1. Jojo Rabbit

Jojo Rabit is a deeply upsetting but oddly comedic film about a Little boy called Jojo in the hitler youth whose imaginary friend is Adolf Hitler. Jojo discovers that his mother is hiding a jewish girl behind the wall and he has to make a choice about what to do about this.

Jojo rabbit is such a brilliant film. It has moments of comedy but this film is heart breaking but so important to remember what a horrible time the holocaust was and not to do it again. Jojo Rabbit shows us rebellion and hope and it’s heartwarming to remember that brave kind people do exist
