Recently, in New Zealand, one of the most peaceful countries, in the world, a terrorist shot around 50 people in cold blood. Many people died and others are severely injured and may not survive.

The youngest victim was a three year old boy called Mucaad Ibrahim and the oldest was a 63 year old man called Mohsen Mohammed Al Harbi. The fact that these people, part of the New Zealand Society died, brings many tears to people’s eyes, especially the Muslim communities around the world as they are very shocked people would show that much hate towards a peaceful religion.

The suspected terrorist was called Brenton Tarrant and Mr Tarrant was described by Australian Prime Minister Scott Morrison as an "extremist, right-wing, violent terrorist".

The President of New Zealand wore a headscarf to show respect to the victim’s families, whilst commemorating their deaths as an act of nobility. Many people came together to sign a petition to expel the Senator (who said hateful things about the attack) from his position.

Much support has been shown regarding the shootings though of course it can’t make up for the fact that lives have been taken but with continual support from people around the world I believe the community can recover and work together to make New Zealand a safe place once again.
