Since Donald Trump's election in January of 2017, he has asserted his dominance in the headlines; you'd struggle to find a mainstream newspaper without a mention of Trump at least once a day. However, celebrities have been getting ever-more involved in politics as of late, namely a certain Kanye West, making very public his support of the current President of the United States.

Just few short weeks ago, West made a visit to Trump's Oval Office in the Whitehouse, Washington - to deliver a wild, 10-minute long speech regarding gun laws and his battle with bipolar disorder, along with a range of other topics. The meeting was just as historic as it was one-sided with the President barely getting a word in edgeways.

In the weeks before, Kanye West had released images of him in one of Trump's notorious "MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN" hats, sparking the internet into a slight frenzy over West's political views. Even more recently, and in a complete turn of events, Kanye West (who now prefers to be known as Ye) posted a tweet stating that he is "distancing (him)self from politics", going as far as to say "I've been used to spread messages I don't believe in".

West is just one of the many celebrities turned social activists who aim to use their publicity to sway a population. But is it morally right? And are they abusing their power?

One other political move which celebrities employ - that isn't so frowned upon as this - is persuading people to vote in elections. This is seen as much more positive as it should mean those who come into power are more representative of their public. With that being said, is actively supporting a controversial politician a step too far for celebrities? And where does one draw the line between #Vote and #MakeAmericaGreatAgain?
