A contemporary, 3-acre Plaza is under development in Bromley South. Leading up to the road to the bustling town, this area has been under construction by U+I (in partnership with the council) since 2013 and will likely revolutionise the entire area- being predicted to generate over £220 million in Gross Value added over the next decade. How? The new shopping centre will be host to not only 25000 sq ft of cafes and restaurants such as Nando’s  but also a brand new nine screen VUE cinema, which is sure to attract many customers. All of these shops are also said to generate around 200 jobs for the locals, which is sure to prove useful.

However, shops aren’t the only thing to be expected in this exciting development. Also included are 200 affordable apartments with a 400 car underground car park, on top of a Premier Inn. This cements the new construction as an ‘urban development’ as opposed to just a shopping centre, and makes the prospect all the more exciting. Being in Bromley South, the development is also a very short walk from the eponymous train station, making it very accessible to people from all around the area.

With all of the expected jobs and revenue being created, this project is set to rival the beloved Glades shopping centre. It is very interesting to see such a huge project coming to Bromley, as well as the potential positive effects it can have on aspects like the local economy.
