Mission care is a Christian charity which has been serving vulnerable people for over 110 years in South East London. Among its 5 branches Elmwood is the biggest. The others are located in Bromley, Chislehurst, Bickley and Denmark Hill which is dedicated for people with disabilities. They provide a comfortable atmosphere for over 200 people. “We try and relieve the pressing needs of the sick and suffering, to ease the burden of the weary and tired, and to bring something of the hope and comfort of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.” comments Dr Selina Fox, Founder, 1911.

Elmwood care home is located in Bickley. It provides a high standard of personal care to 70 older people. Elmwood has 3 floors. On each floor is a large, bright lounge and rooms for the residents. Every resident has their own room and they are encouraged to decorate it the way they wish. This home has made many thoughtful arrangements to provide privacy, hygienic surroundings and care to its residents. For instance, every room has its own bathroom. All furniture and towels are provided. The third floor is dedicated to the residents with dementia. A café is also located on this floor.

They also organize activities from time to time. Gentle exercises and games. For the residents who cannot move out of their rooms, the activities are brought to them. Pets too are brought in for the residents to spend time with. The medications of the residents are also taken care of by the nurse allotted to them.
