Bonnington Farm is the home to 35 beautiful huacaya alpacas, and there are 14 more cria (alpaca babies) who are due in the summer! On this farm the aim is alpaca breeding, hoping to breed high quality alpacas with award winning genetics.
Tess and Mark have been farming alpacas for 4 and a half years and Tess explained that she loves spending time with the animals. They never fail to make her smile due to the way they behave and the way in which they react to each other and she enjoys learning new things about them every day. She also told me that she really looks forward to the birthing season as it feels so special to witness a new life coming into the world.
The alpacas from Bonnington Farm have been to various alpaca shows including: National Show, East of England, South of England and Heart of England. Over the last two years of showing they have won many rosettes. Little Nige has received the highest award out of the Bonnington alpacas, by winning reserve champion at two different shows.
At Bonnington they offer farm experiences where you can meet and feed all the animals on the farm, walk the alpacas and enjoy a picnic amongst them. They also offer wedding experiences in which you can hire two of their beautiful boys (Marlon and Picasso) to come to your wedding! Alpaca poo happens to be an amazing fertiliser so this is available to buy on their Etsy, along with many other fabulous products produced on the farm.
