Holi is a spring festival, also known as the festival of colours or the festival of love. The Hindu festival signifies the victory of good over evil, the arrival of spring and for many a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive. It is celebrated with carnival of colours, where participants play and chase each other with dry coloured powders and coloured water.
This year, 7th March, the festival was celebrated on a big scale in Orpington where more than a hundred people gathered to play with colours and danced to the rhythm of the drums. People of all ages enjoyed Holi delicacies and had a fun filled day smeared with bright coloured powders.
The entire festivity was organised by the Bromley Temple and Cultural Association (BTCA) which endeavours to promote social and cultural values by bringing together the community in Bromley borough.
Mr Vimal Kaushik, one of the volunteers of this organisation says “The association promotes community welfare and development through mutual support.”
Mrs Radha Tripathi, another volunteer says, “Our activities include development of children by indulging them in community service. We are also working to support humanitarian causes.”
BTCA is still raising funds for future events and gatherings. With more people coming into the community, it is expecting lots more numbers in the events.
