It’s taken them three weeks but Erith Snooker Master 8’ers have secured their first victory in the South London & Kent Pool Alliance by a massive 12 frames to 3 over fellow promoted team Bellegrove Social Club A.

The first set was pretty close with Erith just edging it 3-2 but they turned on the heat in the next two, winning them 4-1 and 5-0 with Paul Clarke, Glen Bradstreet and Kevin Hewitt all securing their three frames.

Surprisingly this win takes them into third place behind the early pacesetters Brockleians and Rileys A who both also had big wins this week.

Brockleians were 11-4 victors over an out of sorts O’Connors while Rileys beat newly promoted side Our Lady of the Rosary by 10 frames to 5.

The last time they met was in last season’s cup competition when the underdogs were triumphant but there was no sign of an upset here as Naftali Ayieko and Joe Kane both scored three out of three, while Tony Gear and Adam Coppen were close behind winning two of their three frames.

Danny Morris was the only player to come out with any credit for Our Lady with his three victories.

The closest game of the night came at the Pickwick where Brockleians Choppers were the visitors.

With the score at 7-7 Gary Mason produced a nice finish to clinch the match for the home side.

Elsewhere Rileys Woolwich kept up their unbeaten run with an 11-4 win over Rack Pack.

In the SLKPA Division One early leaders Glenmore Arms A stay top after a 9-6 victory over Bellegrove Sharks.

It was a great all round team performance with Shailash Vekaria winning both his frames, Alan Enever his frame and Paul Thomas and James Grant finishing on two out of three but a special mention has to go to octogenarian Derek Wilding playing an excellent frame, producing some great pots to secure the win.

Kings Arms go to second after Meridian Sports & Social Club fail to field a side for the second week running.

Fox under the Hill gain their first win of the season with an 8-7 home win over Beech Tree Nuthouse.

At the end of the second set the scores were level at 5 apiece but Kevin McNelly and Chris Gaunt helped to win the first three frames of the final set with their third frame win each on the night to kill the game off.

Saying that, Beech Tree was fighting for all the points they could get and Dave Sparey and Craig Jones won the last two frames to take their personal tallies to three for the night as well.

New Eltham Social Club kept up their early season unbeaten form with a 9-6 win over Glenmore Arms 2.

Youngster Chris Unwin was the player of the night, winning all of his three frames.

Rileys Rovers captain Alan Reed said, ‘I think we’ve just seen the division champions’ after their 11-4 loss to White Hart.

Rovers were never really in the game after losing the first three frames in an excellent all round performance from the visitors, although Alex Thompson was the stand out performer, winning his three frames including a seven-baller.

Ian Cruwys, Ernie Wellhausen and Shephards Shaun and Scott all finished with two out of three on the night.
