A KEMNAL Technology College student has become a double world chmpion for his age group in karate.
Joe Coombes, 13, from Mottingham, is the UK champion in both kumite and kata after winning gold in the British championships in Sheffield last year.
And he built on his British success earlier this month by taking gold in each category at the World Cup in Birmingham for male fighters aged 12 and 13.
Coombes puts his success down to training three times a week at Mottingham Dojo, a club he joined four years ago.
Next on the agenda for the talented youngster is a bid to up his grading from red belt to brown.
He said: “Being the UK national champion is fantastic, but now becoming double world champion is brilliant.”
