Round two of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance Founders Cup (Team Knockout) saw Our Lady of the Rosary from the First Division knock out high flying Premier Division side Greenwich Town Social Club.

It was a close game with the lower division side taking it by the narrowest of margins 8-7 in a deciding frame, showing that they should be able to hold their own should they be promoted next season.

Another match that went to a deciding frame involved the cup holders O’Connors, who are currently fourth in the table; take on the team above them Eardley Arms.

As their league standings suggest it was an epic battle that swung both ways but Eardley Captain Paul Donohoe put in a performance worthy of any famous captain to win the deciding frame and eliminate the holders 8-7.

The other hero of the night for the victors was Adam Everitt, who turned up with only one eye, not literally of course but he had an eye problem and could only see properly out of one and still managed to win all of his 3 frames.

Rack Pack showed no mercy to their current landlords, Fox under the Hill in their 8-1 demolition of the out of form side, with Sean O’Connor winning his 2 frames and Captain Tony Frost completing a fine 7 ball clearance.

Erith Snooker Master 8’ers travelled to The Pickwick and it looked as if they were in for a long night when after 90 minutes the score was still 2-2 but Paul Dawson produced two 8 ball clearances and one 7 ball to win his 3 frames lifting Pickwick to an 8-3 victory to set up a third round tie with Rack Pack.

At Riley’s Woolwich there was a repeat of last week’s league fixture and Riley’s Rovers put on a better performance against Hotshots but were still beaten 8-5 with Rob Hearn wanting to play Rovers every week after winning all of his 3 frames again.

There was an all Division One affair at the Leather Bottle where they faced Beech Tree Nuthouse.

The home side took the first set 3-2 but the away team made it level 5-5 by taking the second with the same score and then carried the momentum through to the third and winning overall by 8 frames to 6.

Another all First Division tie saw New Eltham Social Club beaten 8-6 by division leaders Bellegrove Social Club, who will meet Beech Tree in the next round.

The remaining place in the third round goes to Coach & Horses who made it through to play Our Lady following Life of Riley’s withdrawal from the league.

The SLKPA experimental Reserve League saw a reversal in last week’s fixture, not only in playing venue but also in score as Greenwich Town Social Club Reserves beat Pickwick Academicals 7-5 to inflict their first defeat this season despite Alan Hawkins winning 3 out of 4 for Pickwick.
