The shock result of the South London & Kent Pool Alliance week five, if not of the season so far came in the Premier Division where second from bottom Fox Under the Hill travelled to league leaders Pickwick and squeezed an 8-7 victory.

It was a great all round team performance with Chris Gaunt, Allan Formosa and Jamie Walkey all winning 2 frames, with Walkey coolly slotting home the black in the final frame decider.

Eardley Arms didn’t quite do enough to capitalise on the Pickwick’s slip up and remain one point behind the leaders despite winning 10-5 away at Riley’s Rovers.

Their victory was very much down to the sparkling form of Craig Mallinder and Clive Black both winning 3 out of 3, although Black just edges the man of the match award for his amazing 2 cushion escape from a snooker to pot his final colour before sinking the black in the second set.

Faisal Saleemi starred for Rovers winning 3 of their 5 frames on the night.

Tony Gear had a great night for The Rack Pack winning his 3 frames and Mattie Flockhart chipped in with a brilliant '7baller' but they were outdone by a battling Greenwich Town Social Club side who came away with the 8-7 victory.

Hotshots don’t seem to be firing on all cylinders this season as they remain third from bottom after their 9-6 defeat to O’Connors.

Meanwhile the other team from that venue, Coach & Horses are having better fortunes as their 10-5 win over Lewisham Riley’s leapfrogs them over their opponents and The Rack Pack into fifth place in the table.

Solid performances from Ben Beever and Ed Travers winning 3 out of 3 and 2 out of 2 respectively helped them to their second win of the season.

In the SLKPA’s First Division the Bellegrove Social Club are opening up quite a lead at the top of the table after yet another impressive win, this time 11-4 away to the Leather Bottle, who had Alan Enever in top form winning half of their 4 frames.

Bellegrove’s Stephen Pearce lost his 100% record but he only has himself to blame after potting the black before he had cleared all his colours.

The biggest win of the night came at Our Lady of the Rosary where the statue of the Virgin Mary overlooking the table must have inspired them to a 14-1 victory over Life of Riley’s.

This impressive win took them to third in the league and 10 points behind the leaders but it cannot be said their opponents are living the life of Riley as they stay rooted to the bottom of the table.

Erith Snooker Master 8’ers hang onto second place by just 2 points with their hard fought 8-7 defeat of New Eltham Social Club.

Elsewhere White Hart’s Captain Scott Shephard continued his early season form winning his 3 frames in their 10-5 win against Beechtree Nuthouse, while Running Horses notched up their second victory of the season 9-6 against the Kings Arms.
