BEXLEYHEATH & Belvedere Hockey Club had their toughest game of the season so far when they faced Sevenoaks at Erith School.

BBHC got off to strong start, keeping a lot of possession and winning an early short corner.

David Pyke converted with ease by striking the ball past the keeper’s right foot.

Sevenoaks responded strongly and soon levelled with a well-worked goal.

Midway through the first half Tom Golding made a great run and with some good individual skill and a powerful reverse, hit BBHC’s second goal.

Just on the stroke of half-time Sevenoaks again equalised with a short corner, flicking the ball low past keeper Lee Cook.

For the majority of the second half BBHC defended well as Sevenoaks looked to take the lead.

However, the defence, marshalled by skipper Ben Bradley, ensured that the game ended all square.

It might have been different had BB not been denied a definite penalty stroke just before the final whistle, which would have nicked the win.

BBHC face another tough game this weekend when they visit Marden Russetts.
