Kent Exiles Youth 42 v 0 Essex Spartans

THE Kent Exiles youth team continued their great start to the season by winning their second game and recording their biggest ever victory at the same time.

Luke Aylward opened the scoring from nine yards out followed by Tim Ayres scoring his first of the season from 24 yards away.

Tom Taylor hit one of the extra points and the Exiles were 14-0 up at the end of the first quarter.

The second quarter was the same story with Oli Gould hitting a wide open Rory O'Neill from 29 yards out and Max Engel scoring with a five-yard burst.

Once again Taylor hit one of the extra points and the Exiles led 28-0 at the end of the half.

While Exiles offence was seemingly scoring on every drive the defence was again performing well.

Joe Alexis recorded 10 tackles and was ably assisted by Reiss Bowens' six tackles.

Aylward scored his second of the game early in the third quarter and Taylor was again good with the point.

The final score of the game came with Gould finding Luke Grundy from 15 yards out.

Coach James McCartney said: "Two wins out of two now and we could not have hoped for a better start to the season.

"I'm so pleased with my team as every one of them is playing their part.

"We really play as a team while also ensuring all of them get a good run out, after all this game is about the kids having fun".

The Exiles face the Tamworth Trojans this Sunday, at home in Orpington, with kick-off at 2.30pm.
