Kent Ravens 34 v 18 Greenwich Admirals

Rugby League National Conference

WITH the rain lashing down, Ravens dominated the match against rivals Greenwich thanks to their powerful forwards.

However the game could have been different after Ravens let Greenwich score an early try via Ben Medhurst and James Hardy's extra points.

After the setback Ravens switched on and began to show the skills which have won the last two away matches.

Great work on the wing from Jason Oliver set up second row Michael Walton against a Greenwich winger.

There was no contest as Walton breezed past to notch up Ravens' first points.

Bobby Connolly added more points to give unfazed substitute Tom Claridge a difficult kick for the extra points to put Ravens 10-6 ahead.

Richard Williams replaced Darren Griffin to give the pack more mobility at the expense of strength.

However it was a fifth tackle kick straight into touch from the Admirals which set Ravens up for the next try.

Captain Drummond worked well with stand off Richard Whelan to send man of the match Richard Paddick over the line.

Richard Whelan added the extras to send Ravens into the break 166 up.

The second half started in similar fashion to the first as the Admirals scored early through skilful scrum half Jack Webb and Hardy again added the extras.

But Ravens responded immediately when an early high kick from Whelan sailed high and wide for Claridge to claim, evade the opposition wing and score in the corner and add the extra points.

Although Greenwich got another six-pointer from Hardy there was no way back for them.

Ravens showed their determination as John Richardson added a try and, to finish the match off in style, full back Constantine Hatzidakis out-paced the Greenwich defence to produce Kent Ravens' most impressive display this season.

The vicotry moves the side up to second in the table with only Broadstairs ahead of them on points difference.

Next week Ravens men take on St Albans at home at 2.30pm.
