LEWISHAM Thunder’s under-13 team won their first National League basketball game on Saturday at Forest Hill Community Sports Centre.
They faced Brentwood Fire in their first outing and won very convincingly 89-39.
Lewisham Thunder is honoured and proud to this year have been awarded club mark status, incorporating Sport England's clubmark, as well as having entered two teams into the National League at U13 and U16 levels for the first time.
After tireless work from volunteers and coaches, the club now has a solid base which provides the community with open play basketball sessions in a warm and friendly environment for both boys and girls aged between eight and 18.
Since the first AGM in 2006 committee members, volunteers and coaches have tirelessly dedicated their efforts into safeguarding a legacy and developing the future of community club sessions.
By putting a greater emphasis on primary and junior basketball, they have been able to build a solid participation base and create a situation which provides first class opportunities for all in terms of playing, coaching, club environment and child protection policies and procedures.
