IN a hard-fought battle typical of a mid-table clash, Brom & Beck shared the spoils with Wapping.

Brom & Beck started the game impressively and were by far the stronger side for the opening 15 minutes, winning short corner after short corner, but failing to convert.

Wapping did well to soak up the pressure and punished Brom & Beck for their lack of ruthlessness by scoring from their first short corner of the game.

Their lead was doubled a few minutes later as Brom& Beck failed to clear a short corner again and the ball found the back of the net.

Brom & Beck went into the half-time break with a two-goal deficit completely against the run of play.

As the second half got underway, Wapping dominated the opening 10 minutes and were the better team for the first time in the game.

The Brom & Beck defence did well to hold firm and made some great tackles and clearances at dangerous times, with Alison Fox in goal also being called in to action and making a couple of classy saves.

Once the initial attack had been dealt with, Brom & Beck began to get back to playing some silky hockey again. However, time was not on Brom & Beck’s side as the minutes continued to tick away and a sense of urgency started to creep in.

With just under 10 minutes left, they finally found the back of the net.

Wapping failed to clear a short corner strike fully and the rebound found Tara Woodward lurking at the top of the D.

Woodward hesitated only momentarily before unleashing an excellent strike in to the bottom right hand corner. The impetus was now with Brom & Beck and quickly after, they were level.

Natasia Wisniewska finished off a superb driving run from the right back position, with a firm cross in to the D.

With lots of bodies from both sides in there, the ball ping-ponged around for a moment before Julia Wiskow found the space to bundle the ball over the line. Brom & Beck threw everything forward in a bid to get the three points.

Short corners were won, routines finally started to work and it was only due to some excellent reflex saves by the Wapping goalkeeper that meant the final score remained 2-2.
