GRAVESEND’S first team travelled to Canterbury and made a good start, leading 1–0 at the break courtesy of Kerry Jewiss.
Jewiss scored with an excellent strike with a reverse stick sweep into the corner of the goal.
However, Canterbury came out strong in the second half and scored two goals in quick succession.
Gravesend continued to battle hard but their second goal remained elusive despite several close attempts by Jewiss and Lucy Darbon.
Gail Petherick and Deb Hamer (2) secured a comfortable 3-0 success for Gravesend’s second string against Maidstone Thirds.
Gravesend’s thirds held Sevenoaks Fifths 0-0 at the break, but their opponents struck three times without reply in the second half.
